Speaker A:Are you ready to dive in?
Speaker A:Grab your pen and notebook and get comfy, Open your heart and mind and invite God in as we get ready to become who God created you to be.
Speaker A:Let's do this.
Speaker A:I've been in your shoes and still in the trenches of balancing all the demands of being a mother and a wife.
Speaker A:While trying to spend time daily with God.
Speaker A:I had two little ones.
Speaker A:Back to back.
Speaker A:I struggled finding pockets of time for myself and for God.
Speaker A:In this episode we'll go over three ways to make time for God.
Speaker A:First off, I want to commend you for the desire to spend time with God and seeking ways to help you spend time with Him.
Speaker A:This is very key and important.
Speaker A:This will help you grow spiritually, build a personal relationship with God and strengthen your prayer life which helps you to become who God created you to be.
Speaker A:Spending time with God will help you to discern and live your unique purpose.
Speaker A:You want to build a habit of prayer by spending five to 10 minutes a day with our Lord.
Speaker A:You want to start building one or two habits at a time.
Speaker A:If you want to build sustainable habits, then you want to gradually build spending more time with God and more frequently throughout the day.
Speaker A:So let's dive in the ways you can make time for God.
Speaker A:The first way to make time for God is to spend the first moments of your day upon waking up.
Speaker A:I personally recommend you giving him the first moments of your day because you're showing and honoring God that He is the priority in your life.
Speaker A:It also helps place you in the right mindset for the day upon waking up around 5am or later, depending on my kids or my dog.
Speaker A:That's when I start my morning prayer routine.
Speaker A:I start my prayers without checking any missed messages, phone calls or checking what I missed on social media.
Speaker A:I suggest you start first thing before you look up at your phone for notifications or see what you've missed out on social media while you slept.
Speaker A:Give God the first moments of your day the second way to make time for God is to create pockets of time for Him.
Speaker A:If you're unable to give God the first moments of your day because of the season of life you're currently in, then look for the first pockets of time that you can give to God.
Speaker A:When I was nursing or feeding my kids, if it was close to 5am Then I would start my prayers.
Speaker A:I put my headphones on and I would start listening and saying my prayers in the prayer app.
Speaker A:If the earliest I could get to do my prayers was before falling asleep, then I would say my prayers laying in my bed with my headphones on once again and say my prayers with the prayer app so I wouldn't disturb my husband and it helps me to focus, hearing it directly into my ears and avoiding any distractions.
Speaker A:And you can also say your prayers in the vehicle when you're heading somewhere.
Speaker A:I've said my prayers while driving somewhere.
Speaker A:As a passenger.
Speaker A:I've told my husband, hey, the kids are settled.
Speaker A:I'm putting my headphones on.
Speaker A:I want to do my morning routine of prayers that I didn't get done yet.
Speaker A:And a tip for you is you want to set an alarm on your phone for a specific time as well.
Speaker A:Then you can hold yourself accountable.
Speaker A:Tell yourself, I am a beloved daughter who spends time with my Lord.
Speaker A:Then do it.
Speaker A:Don't hit that snooze or dismiss.
Speaker A:You can tell your spouse or your family member I'm going to say my prayers and have them watch your kids.
Speaker A:There were times I was unable to say my prayers in the morning or at times I wanted to get my prayers in before bed and I would tell my parents if they were visiting or my husband if they could watch my little one so I could go say my prayers and they were always happy and willing.
Speaker A:The last way to make time for God is instead of reaching for your phone or your tablet to scroll on social media for your dopamine hit.
Speaker A:Instead, you turn to God in prayer.
Speaker A:Now.
Speaker A:No judgment here, because how many times have you reached for your phone or your tablet to scroll on social media and then realize 30 minutes an hour has passed?
Speaker A:I'm guilty just like you are Instead of scrolling social media, I invite you to spend time with God in prayer.
Speaker A:Here's some of my final thoughts.
Speaker A:You want to make God your priority and you will find time to make time for God.
Speaker A:I want to leave you with this.
Speaker A:One of Satan's tactics to keep you from growing closer to God and to prevent you from going to heaven is using time as a weapon.
Speaker A:So if you ever said to yourself, I do not have time to pray, that is Satan in your head.
Speaker A:He is using a tactic to prevent you from praying.
Speaker A:Do not let Satan get the edge over you.
Speaker A:Instead, I pray that you find time for God so that you can become who God created you to be.
Speaker A:Here are the key takeaways.
Speaker A:Number one, the best way to improve your prayer life is by making God your priority and taking the time to spend it with God.
Speaker A:This will help you grow spiritually, build a personal relationship with God and strengthen your prayer life which helps you to become who God created you to be.
Speaker A:Number two, you want to give God the first moments of your day.
Speaker A:You're showing God that He is your priority in your life.
Speaker A:Number three, if you're unable to give know God the first moments of your day because of the season of life you're currently in, then look for the first pockets of time that you can give to God.
Speaker A:And number four, instead of reaching for your phone or tablet to scroll on social media for that dopamine hit, instead you turn to God in prayer.
Speaker A:Let us pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Speaker A:God, our Heavenly Father, you created us to be in communion with you, to be in a relationship with you.
Speaker A:We have a deep desire to have a conversation with you.
Speaker A:You are a number one priority in our life and in the next life.
Speaker A:Please help us as we seek to make time for you as we have obstacles that may distract us and keep you as our priority in life.
Speaker A:You are a loving God that is always waiting for us and always present.
Speaker A:Help us to kindle in our hearts to meet you in the prayer daily.
Speaker A:Father, we make this prayer in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Knowledge is power.
Speaker A:Power is also taking simple action.
