So when we want God to guide us to tell us what to do, especially when it comes to discerning our purpose and his plans for us, it's important that we spend time with God if we want to hear his voice through the Holy Spirit.

Speaker A:

The Holy Spirit guides you and he helps you to hear our Father's words.

Speaker A:

We must spend time in meeting God in His living word daily.

Speaker A:

We want to look at our attitude and our mindset before spending time with God.

Speaker A:

This makes a big difference.

Speaker A:

That plus so much more on today's episode.

Speaker A:

If you're ready to break free from stuck, gain clarity and take steps towards discerning your unique purpose, all while following God's guidance to become the person he created you to be.

Speaker A:

If so, you're in the right place.

Speaker A:

Hello, I'm Michelle, a Catholic discernment mentor and spiritual coach who went from lost and questioning my purpose to confident in my unique calling using a Catholic based strategy that places God and the Catholic faith at the center.

Speaker A:

Are you ready to dive in?

Speaker A:

Grab your pen and notebook and get comfy.

Speaker A:

Open your heart and mind and invite God in as we get ready to become who God created you to be.

Speaker A:

Let's do this.

Speaker A:

I know what it's like when you want to hear God's voice and you try but you still cannot hear Him.

Speaker A:

You feel frustrated and you just feel like you'll never hear his voice like the others do.

Speaker A:

I felt the same way and I hear others wanting to hear God's voice.

Speaker A:

I know you want clarity in the plans he has for you.

Speaker A:

In this episode, we'll be going over the steps to hear God's voice when spending time with him through Scripture so you can hear God's voice guiding you and giving you clarity.

Speaker A:

I had tried spending time with God in silence to hear his voice to guide me on what he wants me to do.

Speaker A:

I listened to other Catholics suggesting their method for hearing God, but still nothing for me.

Speaker A:

I did not hear God's voice.

Speaker A:

I tried journaling and waiting for God to speak to me through journaling, but I did not hear God's voice.

Speaker A:

I knew there had to be a way to hear his voice because I knew God wants to speak to me, to all his children.

Speaker A:

I started this approach and I finally was able to hear God's voice.

Speaker A:

God meets you where he knows you will hear his voice.

Speaker A:

He designed you and he knows you better than you know yourself or any other person that knows you.

Speaker A:

Let's dive in.

Speaker A:

So when we want God to guide us, to tell us what to do, Especially when it comes to discerning our purpose and his plans for us.

Speaker A:

It's important that we spend time with God if we want to hear his voice through the Holy Spirit.

Speaker A:

The Holy Spirit guides you and he helps you to hear our Father's words.

Speaker A:

We must spend time in meeting God in His living word daily.

Speaker A:

We want to look at our attitude and our mindset before spending time with God.

Speaker A:

This makes a big difference.

Speaker A:

Jesus In Mark chapter 6, verse 31 instructs us to go to a quiet place and spend time in silence.

Speaker A:

So you want to find and create a comfortable and quiet place where you will not get disturbed.

Speaker A:

You want to make time and set time when you will not be disturbed nor in a rush into the next thing.

Speaker A:

Instead of focusing on God before meeting him and his living Word, you're focusing and you're worrying about the tasks you must get done.

Speaker A:

Like, oh, I need to do the dishes, I need to get the laundry started.

Speaker A:

This takes your attention from God and what he says to you.

Speaker A:

You cannot receive his loving words and guidance if you're not in the right mindset before entering into prayer.

Speaker A:

Once you're quiet and you're in the right mindset, you want to read daily scripture.

Speaker A:

It can be the daily mass readings.

Speaker A:

You can pick a verse by opening your Bible and just randomly picking one.

Speaker A:

I like to choose the daily mass reading from the Gospel.

Speaker A:

My recommendation for simplicity is to just read the Gospel from the daily mass reading.

Speaker A:

You want to start off with asking Jesus to show you what you need to know and for the Holy Spirit to guide you.

Speaker A:

You want to read the verse or verses, depending on the length and on which way you prefer to spend time, you know, reading God's Word.

Speaker A:

Then you want to wait a few minutes and then repeat the verse again or verses.

Speaker A:

Then you'll reflect if anything that stands out to you that God might be saying to you.

Speaker A:

And then ask yourself, does this connect with anything you've been praying about?

Speaker A:

Then you'll have a conversation with God.

Speaker A:

You'll tell him what you think he's trying to say to you.

Speaker A:

And lastly, you'll want to spend a few moments just being still in his loving presence.

Speaker A:

Alright, so let's take this into practice.

Speaker A:

I chose Proverbs, chapter 3, verses 5 through 6.

Speaker A:

Let's take a moment to prepare to hear his voice and get us in the right mindset.

Speaker A:

So take a few deep breaths.

Speaker A:

Let us begin.

Speaker A:

In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Loving Jesus, please show me what you want me to know.

Speaker A:

Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.

Speaker A:

Come Holy Spirit.

Speaker A:

Come Holy Spirit.

Speaker A:

Come Holy Spirit and guide me.

Speaker A:

Help me to hear what I need to hear and help me to pray.

Speaker A:

Let's begin with Proverbs 3:5 6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your insight.

Speaker A:

In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will make straight your path.

Speaker A:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight.

Speaker A:

In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will make straight your path.

Speaker A:

Let's enter into silence to meditate and pray.

Speaker A:

Did any words stand out to you that God might be saying to you?

Speaker A:

Reflect.

Speaker A:

Does this connect with anything you've been praying or thinking about lately?

Speaker A:

Anything that you've been wondering and asking God about?

Speaker A:

Anything that you've been worried about?

Speaker A:

As you meditate and reflect, is there anything you would like to say to God?

Speaker A:

Open your heart and have a genuine, honest conversation with God.

Speaker A:

Tell God what you think he's trying to say to you now.

Speaker A:

Take a moment to spend some time in God's peace and presence.

Speaker A:

Thank you God for this time together.

Speaker A:

In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Here's a quick recap of what you'll do so Number one, you'll want to spend time daily with God in His living Word to start building the habit of spending time with him so you can hear his voice.

Speaker A:

Number two, you want to enter into the right mindset and attitude before spending time with God.

Speaker A:

Number three, you want to read a verse or verses.

Speaker A:

Repeat reading it.

Speaker A:

Enter into some time of reflection to ponder what stuck out for you and what God might be trying to say to you.

Speaker A:

Number four.

Speaker A:

You want to have an open heart and a genuine, honest conversation with God, telling Him what you think he might be trying to say to you.

Speaker A:

And lastly, you want to spend some time not focusing on anything but being in God's presence and peace.

Speaker A:

Let us pray.

Speaker A:

My friend, in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Amen.

Speaker A:

My Heavenly Father, we seek to hear your loving voice and guide us on the plans and purpose you have for each of us.

Speaker A:

Help me to enter into our time together with the right attitude and mindset so that I may clearly hear what you have to say.

Speaker A:

Please grant me the grace to hear your clearly so that I may live out your plans and purpose you have for me.

Speaker A:

Help me to not only hear your words but to implement them into my life as you seem fit for you know me better than I know myself.

Speaker A:

In Jesus name.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Knowledge is power and power is also taking action.

Speaker A:

We gain clarity when we move forward.

Speaker A:

Taking action I want you to start building the daily habit of spending time with God in His living word by reading at least one verse a day or the Gospel reading for the day, whichever you prefer.

Speaker A:

What method?

Speaker A:

Set an alarm or a daily task notification for time that you can consistently set time for God without interruptions.

Speaker A:

And then I'd like to invite you to please show this inside the Facebook community group what your preferred way is to read the Scripture.

Speaker A:

Is it the daily mass Gospel reading?

Speaker A:

Reading from a verse from a gospel or just randomly open the Bible up to pick a verse and remember, my beautiful sister in Christ, that God created you uniquely for a unique purpose.

Speaker A:

You were made to do great things.

Speaker A:

God is within you and you will not fail.

Speaker A:

Until next time.

God bless you.

In my search for answers, I turned to the internet, hoping to discover what my true purpose was.
