Speaker A:I remember struggling to find out what God wanted me to do.
Speaker A:I started journaling about how he uniquely created me, trying to piece together all the clues and seeking confirmation from him along the way.
Speaker A:I was desperately trying to discern my purpose, his will for my life.
Speaker A:I spent countless hours searching online trying to figure out how everyone else was hearing God voice.
Speaker A:I was frustrated because I couldn't hear Him I no matter how hard I tried, even though I so desperately wanted to know my purpose and what he uniquely created me for.
Speaker A:So that's why today I want to share with you three things that you can do now to start hearing God's voice to gain clarity about your purpose.
Speaker A:Because the struggle is real and I want to help you.
Speaker A:If you want to hear his voice, you have to spend time in the Bible.
Speaker A:You have to spend some time reading scripture.
Speaker A:And even if it's just a verse or a passage, what I've learned is when God speaks to you through the Bible, something will stick out to you that'll catch your attention.
Speaker A:Something will stir in your heart and that's an indication that God is talking to you.
Speaker A:He's trying to tell you something.
Speaker A:The Holy Spirit was sent by Jesus to help guide us and to help us hear our Father and Jesus voices.
Speaker A:He doesn't force his way in much like our Father and Jesus.
Speaker A:We have to invite him in.
Speaker A:And it starts with action.
Speaker A:And prayer is the first step because it's how we quiet the noise and open ourselves to the Holy Spirit guidance.
Speaker A:So three practical steps to hear God's voice is read the Bible daily.
Speaker A:If you want to hear his voice, you have to spend time in the Bible, even If it's just 10, 15 minutes a day.
Speaker A:And that's usually what I do.
Speaker A:And I used to think that, oh man, when I hear people say, you got to read the Bible, you got to spend time, my mind automatically went to, oh, I've got to spend an hour of this.
Speaker A:I've got to spend an hour reading the Bible just to hear his voice.
Speaker A:And I want to reassure you don't need to spend an hour or hours in Scripture to hear his voice.
Speaker A:You can even hear him in 10 to 15 minutes a day.
Speaker A:And that's where I can hear him as well.
Speaker A:Within that 10, 15 minutes spending time with him in scripture.
Speaker A:And when God speaks to you through the Bible, something will stick out and it'll catch your attention.
Speaker A:So as you read, pay attention to anything that stands out or stirs within your heart, because that's an indication that God is talking to you and he's trying to tell you something.
Speaker A:God doesn't communicate like we do as humans.
Speaker A:He doesn't have a verbal voice to hear with our ears.
Speaker A:That's where a lot of times I was getting tricked on when I was thinking about, oh, man, I got to hear his voice in my mind.
Speaker A:I was thinking as human, thinking of it as in human terms, the human way, oh, well, he's going to have a voice like you and I, but it's going to be softer, quieter.
Speaker A:But this, I'll hear this voice like that.
Speaker A:So that was misleading me.
Speaker A:That was a barrier that I had or a limiting belief that was coming up.
Speaker A:And that's not at all how Jesus speaks.
Speaker A:As you're reading scripture and something sticks out or something you feel like stirring in your heart over this, then that's the indication that he's speaking to you.
Speaker A:So even though the Bible was written thousands of years, he can still speak to you through his words.
Speaker A:That's why it's called the Living Word.
Speaker A:His words are still alive today as he speaks directly to you.
Speaker A:And what you specifically need to hear and something you can do is to take note of that.
Speaker A:So take note of what stands out to you or that you feel something is stirring in your heart from God, that He's speaking to you.
Speaker A:And you can mentally take note of it and file it in your memory bank, or you can jot it down in a notebook or a journal.
Speaker A:And that is fine.
Speaker A:I personally keep a mental note of it.
Speaker A:Now, as you start to hear God's voice more and more and you will hear his voice, you will understand how he speaks to you and how he comes to you and how he speaks to you and communicates to you.
Speaker A:So you may just want to mentally take a note of it because you've done this enough in the process.
Speaker A:The second thing you can do is talk to God about it.
Speaker A:So once something stirs in your heart, talk to God about it.
Speaker A:Tell him what you think he's saying.
Speaker A:God, is this what I think you're telling me?
Speaker A:And tell him what you think.
Speaker A:And then ending it with, am I on the right track?
Speaker A:Sometimes his clarity will come right away.
Speaker A:Sometimes God might be asking you just to wait a couple days, a week, or maybe longer.
Speaker A:As hard as it may seem, just try not to be discouraged.
Speaker A:Now, the third thing you can do is to write down the passage or the verse of what's stirring in your heart and what you think God is saying.
Speaker A:And here's the key.
Speaker A:When he answers you over time, come back and note it.
Speaker A:This way you can revisit it and you can see how he's actually answering you over time.
Speaker A:Seeing it in writing is such a beautiful reminder that he is always there, always, always listening, and he's always answering.
Speaker A:To quickly recap, here are the three things that you can do now to start hearing God's voice, you want to spend time reading the Bible daily.
Speaker A:Even if it's just 10 to 15 minutes, you can hear God's voice within that time.
Speaker A:Then you want to pay attention to what stirs in your heart.
Speaker A:You want to ask God for clarification.
Speaker A:God, is this what you're saying?
Speaker A:And journal it when you can so that over time you can see the bigger picture of how he's speaking to you and guiding you.
Speaker A:Remember even small, consistent steps.
Speaker A:Opening your heart to God's guidance.
Speaker A:He wants you to know your purpose and he's faithful to lead you every step of the way.
Speaker A:You can hear God's voice.
Speaker A:He's not hiding it from you.
Speaker A:You were created for a unique mission.
Speaker A:He gave you the gifts and the talents to serve others and to build his kingdom.
Speaker A:But you have to slow down, open His Word and listen.
Speaker A:Let us pray in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Heavenly Father, thank you for speaking to us through your Word and for the gift of Holy Spirit who guides our hearts towards your will.
Speaker A:Lord, give us the desire to open our Bibles each day and the eyes to see what you are showing us.
Speaker A:Help us to listen for your voice and to trust what you speak, especially as we seek to live out the unique purpose that you created us for.
Speaker A:Give us courage to follow where you lead, using our gifts to serve you and build your kingdom.
Speaker A:May everything we do bring glory to you in Jesus name.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Now let's take this from head to heart.
Speaker A:Knowing the truth is powerful, but real change comes when we act, taking that one small step at a time.
Speaker A:Start tomorrow with 10 minutes in your Catholic Bible and ask him to speak to you.
Speaker A:And when you open up your Bible and you read a scripture, come on over to the Facebook community Finding youg Purpose, Discernment and Strategy for Catholic Moms.
